BAKED FRUIT COMPOTE FOR PESACH

Yield: 8 to 10 servings

Soak dried fruits in cold water to cover overnight. Drain the fruit and place in a saucepan together with the orange juice, water, cloves and cinnamon. Simmer gently for 45 minutes, then add lemon juice and sugar and cook, stirring frequently, for l0 minutes longer.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Drain the fruit, reserving the liquid, and place fruit in a shallow ovenproof casserole or pie plate. Add just enough liquid to barely cover the fruit. Sprinkle crumbled macaroons over the top. Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes. Serve either warm or cold.
